All About Us
Let me take a moment to introduce myself… My name is Amy L. Curry. I started quilting late in 2022 after I graduated from a very long higher education program. I felt like I was going stir-crazy with my newly emerging free time and needed an outlet. I had previously purchased a Donna Sharp Patchwork Quilt as a snuggle/study buddy, and decided that I was capable of making something “like” that and wanted to try. Hence, my quilting commenced and I haven’t looked back since.
My partner and ever-present support in this venture is called Michael Lasher. He has encouraged me to experiment, expand, and branch out while attempting to manage my technical and mechanical needs in order to keep things online and progressing forward. At this point - the possibilities are only limited by my imagination!
The Magic
Allow me to provide a brief description of my methods and products featured on our online Marketplace. Every one of my unique quilt creations is constructed from 100% cotton fabrics, pieced together into a top and back. These two parts are joined together around a 80/20 (cotton/poly blend) batting center and earnestly machine quilted into a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Quilt Preparation
I carefully choose the fabrics I use to ensure quality and utility for all my quilt creations. However, I do not prewash or color test the fabrics I use. Unpredictably, some non-colorfast cotton fabrics are prone to color migration due to the dyes used in the manufacturing process which can run/bleed/migrate or dissolve in the wash and then distribute onto other lighter fabrics in the quilt causing staining. I do provide printable care instructions on this site and include a printed reference copy with each quilt purchased and shipped to aid in the best after care practices.
The After-Quilt
Each of the quilt backs I create, commonly referred to as an ‘after-quilt’, is as unique and intricate as the patchwork top. The after-quilt design is conceived and planned after the patchwork top is complete and largely depends on the anticipated finished size of the quilt. Every after-quilt is carefully constructed using scrap fabrics from the patchwork quilt top as well as complementary fabric scraps from my stash.
I pride myself in individually crafting an after-quilt for each of my creations which not only adds beauty and intrigue to the quilt, but also sets it apart from any other quilt that could be made or purchased.
I hope you enjoy browsing our online Marketplace and find something that you can treasure and pass on as a special heirloom for generations to come.
